So I am a newbie with 3 SEOS12's and 3 of the 350CDs on order. I am now shopping for the mid-bass drivers. I see lots of JBL2206Hs for sale (flea-bay, Craig's list, etc..) However; I see very little mention of the JBL 2206 model here. I am beginning to wonder if this is not such a good choice?
It's veteran/remembrance day. The boards are slow I don't have any experience withy the 2206. Haven't so much as looked at the spec sheet. My guess is someone will use it, but being JBL the price/performance is low compared to others. The 2226 generates buzz, because there aren't as many 15" options. Especially 15" options that can pull off a 1khz cross over. So likely nothing wrong, probably quite good. But for how much. How much?
tuxedo, Thanks for responding! Yeah; I was wondering if the JBL 2206 question might be as simple as bang for the buck...
dcgold, Thanks - I checked out the comments. Sounds like it has the potential to be a great performer if you can find a deal (or justify the cost).
Even though it's not a new design, I believe the 2206 is still considered to have state-of-the-art performance - very smooth and well-behaved response, very low distortion, and very high power handling, meaning essentially zero power compression for HT use. They're expensive new, but some have been going really cheap (<$100)on ebay lately. I bought some to use with the SEOS-12/DNA-360, and I'm pretty sure Erich has a designer working on a XO for this combo.
