Sorry if this sounds like another dumb noob question, but, I just received my 1st pair of SEOS 12 waveguides and I can't seem to conjure up the mechanical ability to bolt them to my JBL LE-85 CDs. The three bolt pattern matches, the holes are a tad narrow (nothing a 1/4" drill bit won't cure), but there seems to be no way to insert a bolt from the top without the horn interfering. Am I supposed to insert posts into the CD and then try to cap with a nut on top of the waveguide flange? Again, there does not seem to be enough room for the nut. Thanks
Well I see what you mean about the three bolt holes not having very much room to work with. I think the DNA-360 was designed for 2 bolt drivers but the mold for the mounting flange had the three bolt pattern on it anyway. I hate to say it but you may need to do a little bit of cutting/grinding to make enough room for the bolts or nuts. The other option it to cut notches into threaded posts and use c-clips on those posts to secure the driver to the waveguide.
Robert- A suggestion (and what I intend to do, unless a miracle happens and I'm able to find the mounting hardware Erich sent with my drivers)... I plan to get a length of threaded rod, cut it into 1" to 1.5" lengths, and use them as studs threaded into the drivers themselves. As far as room for the nut, it might require a second person to hold your horn for you, but if nut-horn clearance is a problem, just barely have the studs come through the flange and start the nuts prior to seating the driver against the horn. Don't forget to use a washer so you don't chew your flange up torquing down the nuts. -Jason
