Continuum Speaker Amp

  1. Hi guys,

Would like to ask your opinion on the wattage required for the Continuum speakers.

    Some details:
    1. The listening position will be approximately 10ft from the speakers.

    2. The house is a high-rise apartment (I live in Singapore) and I definitely won't be listening at reference levels. Just looking at the kind of volume you'd find coming from TV speakers etc. As long as dialogue is clear I am a happy camper.
    3. Preference for tube integrated amps.
    4. Budget of <US$600

Initially I was considering getting the MP-301 mini tube amp (6.5W per channel) to pair with the Fusion Tempests. Would the same amp be sufficient to power the Continuums?

  2. I really don't think that would be enough. The continuum is a fairly low efficiency design at 84 dB with 1 watt at 1 meter. With 6.5 watts, you're only going to be able to hit 91 db or so with no additional headroom. I'd probably want more like 70-100 watts for those speakers.
