OS MTM port holes at the bottom, why?

  1. Hi, I'm going to begin building the OS MTM kit from DIY Sound group soon and I'm wondering about the port location.

In the OS MTM kit order page, it is stated that the port holes should be at the lower part of the cabinet.

Is there any reason for this?

What happen if the port holes were at the top part?

I find that with the port holes at the bottom, it is more difficult to put the speaker terminal.

  2. From looking at the photo it just looks like the flat pack was designed that way. I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to flip the finished product upside down and switch the left and right. I don't believe the sound quality would be affected by that. I have built a couple of these and have had the ports in different locations.

  3. Hi Max, thanks.

I figure I'll position the terminals so that the speaker can be put in either orientations then.
