I have a pair of blown Paradigm ADP-170 di-poles for my rears. I thought about replacing the drivers, but am wondering if building something would be better. The problem is my room. The di-poles work well in my room because I can mount them high on the side walls. I don't really have the ability to mount speakers on the back wall. Is there a design here that would be better than my Paradigm's and be good to use on the side walls - keeping in mind that these are my rears? I would also like to be able to use my AVR to power them - 140w per channel. Any of the kits should do it for you. Don't you want your surrounds to the sides. Maybe the alpha 8 kit? What's your budget?
I guess I am calling them by the wrong name. It's a 5.1 system. Aren't the rears normally on the back wall behind the listeners in a 5.1? My bi-poles are mounted on the side walls in-line with the main listening position. Budget is open. I was looking at the Fusion-10 Max, but they may look huge on my walls. Right now I am looking at the Alpha-8 Minion. I will eventually build a pair of Fusion-15 Sentinel to replace my fronts - B&W 603's towers.
http://www.thx.com/consumer/home-entertainment/home-theater/surround-sound-speaker-set-up/ Scroll down to 5.1. I think you're ok. Pick a kit. Any kit. Step right up to the diysoundgroup experience, where all your needs are met. Hehe. What ever fits your size constraints and budget is going to do well I think. I like the alpha 8 based on its paper work. I've never used it.
I was addicted once I received my 4cf flat pack from Erich. Which of the smaller kits have you heard?
One more question... I'm debating between the Alpha-8 Minion and the Fusion-8 Alchemy. However, I'm wondering how these will work with my current B&W LCR's? I want to eventually replace them with Sentinels, but I don't know when that will be. What do you think? Thanks for all the help!
