I would like ur recommendation on a kit (s). I'm looking to replace my Infinity Primus 360's fronts, L/C/R. I'm desiring fronts that have better clarity and are more dynamic without being louder as my biggest problem is hearing dialog clearly in movies. I have a Rythmic 15" DIY sub that I purchased and made about 4 years ago that rumbles my small house just fine. The fronts are currently powered by an Emotiva 5 channel amp and a Sherwood R-972 is my receiver. I also have Infinity Primus 150's for rears but I plan keep them as they are discrete enough for the WAF. I'm interested in SEOS is for the horn as through my readings I believe it's the solution I'm looking for. The center must lay horizontal. I'm not oppose going the Phantom center route if the imaging is that good but I need the flexiblity to add a center if the Phantom just doesn't work out for me. It's important that I have a kit that been completely designed as I don't have the skill set or knowledge to design own from scratch. I have great woodworking skills and all the tools. My overall budget for the 3 fronts is $1, 000 which must include the wood, parts, filler, etc. I don't have any plans for any fancy finish right now. Thanks.
2 Fusion 12's for your L/R. Try them with a phantom center first. If you still feel you need a center, then do the fusion-8 MTM. If you listen to everything with your subwoofer on, then you could probably even try the fusion-8s (or MTM) for mains with a pretty standard 80Hz crossover point. It really depends on your personal listening habits and what your priorities are. Three of the fusion-8 MTMs could certainly meet your goals and leave a lot of breathing room in your budget.
thanks IronCamel. My biggest priority is sound clarity when watching movies. I know my biggest problem is my converted center (long story don't ask). SPL's is not important to me from the standpoint that i know as i go bigger than the dual 6" woofers the Primus 360's has that the higher output will likely follow. I love my Rythmik 15" Sub and it gives me all the thump i need and what the family desires. I'm fore sure I know my hearing has waned over the last few years with a lot metal shop grinding, crashing metal plates, etc. so i'm sure it part of the problem too. I've gotten some responses over at DIY section of the AVS forum and Tux's 1099 is very intriguing to me with his dual 5" mids he uses. the design is close to being finished so i'm waiting for first builders to review. I hope it gets done quickly before i decide to spend my funds on other hobbies.
